Last summer we were commissioned by the non-profit organization The Elephant Project to make a documentary about the plight of Myanmar’s former timber elephants. Elephants were traditionally used to haul timber. Forests have been logged to such a degree that even governments traditionally unsympathetic to environmental issues have taken note, changing laws surrounding logging. As a result, this has left 25,000+ related parties (5000 domesticated elephants, and many elephant owners) in search of new jobs and, in some cases, new homes.
